The 11th edition of the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) is set to occur from November 15-17, 2024, in Shanghai. This premier event in the Asia Pacific dedicated to children's literature will welcome 480 exhibitors from over 30 countries, expecting to draw more than 45,000 visitors to its expansive 25,000-square-meter exhibition area. Endorsed by the Shanghai Press & Publication Administration, the CCBF is organized by prominent groups, including Shanghai Xinhua Distribution Group Co., Ltd. and China Education Publishing & Media Group Ltd., with co-organization by Ronbo BolognaFiere Shanghai Ltd.

As a crucial platform connecting Eastern and Western cultures, CCBF aims to lead the way in the children's book industry while fostering relationships with both domestic and international publishing entities. This year, CCBF will emphasize global diversity and creativity, showcasing a broad spectrum of genres and themes that highlight the Asia Pacific children's book market. Countries such as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and the US will participate alongside key sections like the Bologna Best Children’s Publishers (BOP) Lounge and Strega Prize Lounge.

The BOP Lounge will feature esteemed publishers from various regions, including Baobab from the Czech Republic and Poplar Publishing from Japan. Meanwhile, the Strega Prize Lounge will celebrate winners and shortlisted publishers from Italy’s prestigious Premio Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi. Additionally, the Asia Pacific New Entry Lounge will showcase new publishers from Japan, Australia, and Malaysia.

Several notable international publishers, such as Hachette Children’s Group from the UK and Oxford University Press, will also be present. Chinese publishing houses, including Shanghai Century Publishing Group and China Children’s Press & Publication Group, will engage in discussions to share insights and innovations.

The event will host a distinguished lineup of guests, including renowned authors and illustrators. CCBF will feature eight professional conferences and seminars focused on cross-cultural exchanges, examining trends in the children’s book market, and discussing the impact of AI in publishing. One of the highlights will be “Children Plus: A Fabulous Wardrobe,” an exhibition of 150 picture books celebrating fashion, curated in collaboration with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

In honor of the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death, a special exhibition featuring 50 children’s books about his journey will also be showcased, complemented by thematic lectures from prominent historians.

Additionally, the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition will present 66 finalists selected from 2,584 submissions received from 72 countries, further promoting emerging talent in children's illustration. The Illustrators Survival Corner will provide masterclasses and workshops for aspiring illustrators, enriching their skills and fostering connections within the industry.
